The technology estate is small enough that one person owns real ground and national enough that the ground matters. There is no layer of contractors between the work and the people who depend on it.
What the Work Involves
Keep the network, the testing systems, and the records platforms running at stations across the country. A station that loses connectivity at six in the morning cannot process anybody that day, so most of the work is making sure that does not happen and fixing it fast when it does.
Day to day that is monitoring, patching, endpoint and account management, and working through a ticket queue that comes from every state.
Qualifications
Specialised experience in one of the 2210 parenthetical areas: network services, systems administration, customer support, or information security. Security-plus or an equivalent certification is expected for positions that touch the security boundary.
Federal IT experience is not required. Commercial experience counts.
