Events
Hiring fairs, transition assistance briefings, and information sessions where you can talk to someone who does the work.
Federal Hiring Fair, Chicago
September 17, 2026North Chicago, IL
Recruiters and hiring managers from the North Chicago station and the Eastern Sector will be on site to talk through open positions in human resources, medical support, logistics, and administration. Resume review is available on a walk-in basis.
Who should come: anyone considering federal civilian work, whether or not you have applied before. Veterans and transitioning service members are particularly encouraged; bring your DD-214 or your separation orders if you have them.
What to bring: a printed resume, photo identification, and any documentation supporting a hiring authority you intend to claim.
Transition Assistance Program Briefing
September 24, 2026Fort Knox, KY
A ninety-minute briefing for service members within twelve months of separation, covering how federal civilian hiring actually works: the difference between a job announcement and a job, what veterans preference does and does not do, and how to read a position description without guessing.
Who should come: service members in the transition window and their spouses. No registration is required for the briefing itself.
What to bring: nothing. There is time for questions afterwards and a station representative stays behind for them.
Virtual Information Session: Medical Operations
October 2, 2026Online
An hour with the people who run applicant medical processing: what a station medical section actually does, how the administrative and clinical roles differ, and what the day looks like when four dozen applicants are scheduled.
Who should come: anyone with a clinical or medical administrative background considering federal work, including licensed staff and people with no federal experience at all.
What to bring: questions. The session is deliberately short on presentation and long on answers, and the link is sent the morning of the session.
Veterans Hiring Event, San Antonio
October 15, 2026Fort Sam Houston, TX
A hiring event for veterans and transitioning service members, held with the San Antonio station. On-the-spot interviews are available for several open positions, and hiring managers will be present for logistics, security, and administrative roles.
Who should come: veterans of any era, service members within six months of separation, and eligible spouses.
What to bring: a resume, your DD-214 if you have separated, and documentation for any preference or special hiring authority you intend to use. Interviews are first come, first served.
SkillBridge Open House
October 29, 2026North Chicago, IL
An open house for service members considering a SkillBridge placement at a processing station in their final months of service. Current and former SkillBridge participants will be there to describe how the placement worked and what happened afterwards.
Who should come: service members within one hundred and eighty days of separation, and unit career counsellors.
What to bring: your command approval status if you have started that conversation. If you have not, come anyway; that is the first thing worth talking about.
